A Vision for a new school

St Mary's and St Peter's CE Primary School has been involved in education for over 176 years. The school has a commitment to providing an excellent education in a Christian context for children in the community. The school is held in high regard by the local community and has very strong links with the local churches. The school has an excellent ability to respond to change. This has been evident over the last 8 years when they have managed the transition from 1-2 forms of entry extremely well. The recent Ofsted report (2008) judged the school to be outstanding in every area of its provision.

In expanding the school to accommodate three forms of entry, the school has the opportunity to build on this excellence through the creation of a dynamic building fit for purpose. This will allow us to respond to changes in educational practice over the past 10 years. The 'new' school will respond fully to the move towards increasing personalization, by significantly increasing spaces where individuals and small groups can work, by developing the ICT infrastructure and providing a dynamic range of new and remodelled learning spaces for children. It will also respond to the 'Every Child Matters' agenda, fully ensuring that all aspects of learning and development are fully provided for. The school will continue to uphold the principles of Christian care and love, as well as maintaining high academic standards and providing increased opportunities for enhancing the curriculum.
